Bug Tracking Software
[rant] Why can't some cool software support Agile development processes better. My bugtracking software has no concept of user stories, except to qualify them as features. Maybe that's fine but damn it I demand more. Until then I am using AxoSoft's OnTime. [/rant]
Looking for Bug Tracking Software that doesn't suck? Then you should check out AxoSoft's OnTime.
I am using AxoSoft OnTime to keep track of my product's features and bugs. They have one of the better apps from what I have seen. They offer a web facing, windows facing and VS.Net views which is pretty cool. I can fix bugs inside of VS and then check them off right inside of VS. My boss then can connect to the Bug DB via a windows app and check the latest status of bugs, as well as add new bugs.
Areas where AxoSoft could put some more effort include reporting/graphs and Source COntrol integration. The current reports are not pretty at all. I want reports that can group tons of data into one page. Read Tufte's work on graphs for things I like. I admit that I am demanding in this way but I like to use reports that are generated automatically. The other area is integration to source control systems like Vault or SVN so that we can track which commit fixed which bug. But they do have an SDK so that someone could add this themselves. Heck, maybe I will do it.
By the way the first license is free. Combine this with Vault and bammo some instant Enterprise quility apps for your one-man business. SWEET!
.In full disclosure AxoSoft gave me some schwag for writing this up. But that doesn't change my opinion of them. They get some things right and they need to work on others.
